Kerosene Candles for the Pigeonholed Track Listing: 1. Portishead: "Machine Gun" - from their recently released Third album...so happy they're back! 2. Elbow: "The Fix" (Feat. Richard Hawley) - from The Seldom Seen Kid...just saw them in concert, and was amazed, as usual. 3. Patrick Watson: "Luscious Life" - first discovered Mr. Watson on last year's Cinematic Orchestra's Ma Fleur, and then he released Close to Paradise, which earned Album of the Year for Canada. 4. Tegan & Sara: "Are You Ten Years Ago" - these chicks are hip, and they had help on this record from Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, Weezer's Matt Sharp, and AFI's Hunter Burgan. 5. The Roots: "Rising Down" (Feat. Mos Def & Styles P) - from their latest Rising Down, The Roots still have it, and continue to push conscientious hip-hop. 6. Grey Reverend: "Fineline" - saw Grey open up for Cinematic Orchestra, and then perform Patrick Watson's To Build A Home, and did an outstanding job transcribing it to acoustic guitar in 7/8 time. 7. Aceyalone: "I Think" - as you can see, I love this man. This song was first released on 1994's Project Blowed album, and still "Think" it's relevant. Along with the rest of PB, this man deserves to be heard! 8. cirKus: "You're Such An..." - such a great album, Laylow, formed by Burt Ford, Karmil, Lolita Moon, and Neneh Cherry (probably heard of her on The Gorillaz Kids With Guns track). This is a must have album that slipped through the cracks of Good Music circa 2006. 9. Jamie Lidell: "Little Bit of Feel Good" - one of Warp's greatest musicians, and with his newest, Jim, he joins a band and takes music back to the '40s! He is amazingly talented, also check out Multiply. 10. Destroyer: "Painter In Your Pocket" - such an eccentric singer in Dan Bejar, but also one of the most prolific. You'll also hear him with The New Pornagraphers, Swan Lake, and Hello, Blue Roses. Thanks to Sonaar for recommending this track!!! 11. DJ Vadim: "Sufferin' Blues" (Feat. Jill Green) - one of the most amazing DJ/Producers around, originally from St. Petersburg, raised in London, and now living in NYC. Anything he touches, is bound to be brilliant. 12. Kayne West: "Wouldn't You Like to Ride" (Feat. Malik Yusef & Common) - not much to say, other than I LOVE CHI-TOWN!!! Love Kanye, love Common, much respect, big up! 13. Yeasayer: "2080" - here's another brilliant track off their All Hour Cymbals. They love to incorporate this worldly-music vibe, and this Brooklyn-based band know how to interweave it into rock...great stuff! 14. Bonobo: "Nightlite" (Feat. Bajka) - another track from Ninja Tune greats featuring the lovely Bajka (isn't this a place in Hungary?). Anyway, the album Days to Come is classic. 15. Stromba: "Giddy Up" - a track requested from Moje Dzieci (My Kids) in Poland. This was a popular song off their album Tales from the Sitting Room. Apparently they are working on releasing a new album shortly... Direct download: 01_Kerosene_Candles_for_the_Pigeonholed_PODCAST_5.m4a Category:podcasts -- posted at: 8:05 PM |
