Blacken The Sound, Kill The White Noise Track Listing:

    1.    (0:00:18) The Heavy: BRUK POCKET LAMENT - Check out these UK cats rippin up every style/genre possible in their debut.  They'll definitely be worth watching in the future to see how they mix things up.
    2.    (0:02:54) Plus-Minus: PROFESSION - Love this alternative-pop band.  Drummer, Chris Deaner, is one of the hottest session drummers out there, working most prominently with Kelly Clarkson.
    3.    (0:05:27) The Jimi Hendrix Experience: UP FROM THE SKIES - Another timeless track from Axis Bold As Love.
    4.    (0:08:09) Psapp: NEEDLE AND THREAD - Another track from the 'toytronics' band; making music with toys.
    5.    (0:12:09) Circa Survive: KICKING YOUR CROSSES DOWN - Philadelphia-based indie/prog band with extreme vocalist, Anthony Green.  This is from their second album, On Letting Go.
    6.    (0:15.26) Modselecktor: HASIR - Brilliant track off their first LP, Hello Mom!
    7.    (0:19:50) Refused: REFUSED ARE FUCKIN DEAD - A track from The Shape of Punk to Come, which is an homage to Ornette Coleman's groundbreaking jazz record, The Shape of Jazz to Come, released in 1959 - the same time Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, John Coltrane's Giant Steps, and Charles Mingus' Ah Hum albums blasted onto the jazz scene.  All albums have been quite influential, however, Ornette's unique 'free jazz' technique set new standards in the genre itself, veering further away from the classical jazz background.  This is where Refused comes into play.  This album, likewise, crushed the genre boundary of punk music upon its release, and this song (with apt title) was sort of their swan song, which is unfortunate.
    8.    (0:24:06) TV On The Radio: GOLDEN AGE - Great single from their highly-acclaimed third LP, Dear Science.
    9.    (0:28:09) Pivot: SING, YOU SINNERS - From O Soundtrack My Heart LP.  Another track from one of my newly found favs from 'downunder.'
    10.    (0:31:26) Lou Rhodes: RAIN - Another track from LAMB's front woman.  She still loves to play around with syncopated beats and toy with odd-metered sounds that her band plays with frequently.
    11.    (0:34:40) Boom Boom Satellites: SIX FORTY FIVE - If you like Japanese Animation, especially the brilliant Appleseed flick, then you've probably heard of this Japanese rock band.  This is from their EXPOSED album.
    12.    (0:38:45) Zach Hill & Mick Barr: PARALLEL PATCHWORK ABDUCTION - Zach Hill is either incredibly loved or practically hated, but there's no question when it comes to his abundance of creativity.  He is a drum freak, and when I mean freak, he is known as one of the quickest single-bass pedal stroke drummers out there...but is also like Animal from The Muppets.  He has played with Team Sleep, a band formed by frontman, Chino Moreno from Deftones, he's a large part in the band Hella's success, and he just released a highly-acclaimed solo project that also features him vocalizing.  He is completely self-taught, and only started drumming in 1995.  Mick Barr is a speed metal guitarist signed to Mike Patton's label.
    13.    (0:41:03) Bonobo: CHANGE DOWN - I think I will play Bonobo's entire  collection by the time I finish with my mixes...this is another track off Dial M For Monkey.
    14.    (0:45:18) Outkast: DA ART OF STORYTELLIN' (PART I) - Another track from one of my favorite hip hop albums, Aquemini.  Andre 3000 and Big Boi are hands down the most prolific rap duo ever to grab a mic and make a movie.  The stories they rap, are as basic as rap's roots, yet so sophisticated that it's hard to believe this song is over 10 years old!
    15.    (0:48:19) David Holmes: THE STORY OF THE INK - Another track from Belfast's DJ king.  This one is from The Holy Pictures.
    16.    (0:53:26) The Field: SUN & ICE - Ambient techno from Stockholm, Sweden.  This is from his debut LP, From Here We Go Sublime.
    17.    (0:57:58) Ellen Allien: THE BRAIN IS LOST - Another odd track from German electronic musician.
    18.    (1:03:00) Depeche Mode: JOHN THE REVELATOR - From their 11th studio album, Playing The Angel.   Interestingly enough, this is their first record to include songs not written by songwriter Martin Gore since 1984, and the first to include lyrics written by frontman Dave Gahan.  This song has a strange correlation to Scott Weiland's song Jimmy Was A Stimulator, which will be featured on a future mix of mine from his 12 Bar Blues solo record.
